Do any of his characters die?
The writers of ‘Avengers: Endgame’ explain why “those” superheroes die
Marvel had sold ‘Avengers: Endgame’ as the closing of a great stage for this universe, so we all counted on several of its protagonists to lose their lives. Christopher Markus and Stephen Mcfeely were in charge of writing the film, with the second breaking the ice commenting New York Times on the decision to kill Black Widow:
“His journey, in our minds, had come to an end if he could bring the Avengers back together. She has a terrible, abusive past with mind control, so when she gets to Vormir and has a chance to bring them back, that’s something she’d change for.”
Markus clarifies that there was a version in which Hawkeye died: “It was melodramatic that he should die and not recover his family. It is right and proper that it be her.”. For his part, Mcfeely believes that “the most complicated thing for us is that we were worried that people wouldn’t have time to be sad enough about her.”
